Anxiety sites – Useful information
BBC Anxiety/PTSD/Depression
The BBC now has a mental and emotional health section which you can check out here. It is a little bit simplistic perhaps, as you would expect from the BBC it stick to the medical rule book and the non-controversial facts of anxiety and other psychological problems.
Panic Away Website
The Panic Away website has a well thought of method for overcoming anxiety, panic and other stress issues. Like all things, some swear by it and others are sceptical. No two people are the same so for example if one person has anxiety because of gluten intolerance, low blood sugar or a vestibular nerve disorder then the amount of help they are going to get from a psychological approach is going to be limited (although still valuable). On the other hand someone with more emotional causes for the anxiety would normally do very well. Check it out here and see what you think.
Guardian Newspaper Health Section
On the Guardian’s website, in their “comment is free” section, there is an article on mental health where various people give their experiences and arguments. Worth checking out. Ina way its better than the BBC because it dares to get away from the normal arguments about anxiety and treatments that we all know and gets stuck into real issues about where we go from here. After all, anxiety has not been well treated up until now, partly due to a lack of funding but also due to a lack of understanding. Check out the article here.
